YWCA Class Card
Purchase a Class Card and apply sessions to any dance & fitness classes offered! Use all sessions in the same class or apply them to multiple classes. Classes fill quickly! You may sign up for classes:

YWCA Dance & Fitness classes run throughout the year in three seasons, Fall (September – December), Spring (January – May), Summer (May – August) allowing for more dance class opportunities for everyone!Drop in and check out a class anytime for $12! Or you can save money by signing up for classes by purchasing a YWCA Class Card! You pick the dates and classes you want to attend!

The YWCA class card is valid for 90 days.
Extension policy: For $10 you can extend your class card for 25 days. Extensions must happen before class card expires. Extensions can only be done once and must be done in person or over the phone.
- Once a class has reached its full enrollment, the class will be closed.
No refunds. A credit for the class may be issued only through the Program Director and is to their discretion. Any unused sessions from the Class Card are non-refundable. YWCA Class Cards are valid for 90’s after the first session is attended. If a class is cancelled the client may apply the session to another class offered. Refunds are only issued when the person has a doctor’s medical note.

Ballet For Fun and Fitness
Winter Spring Dates: Mondays, January 22- May 7 at 5:15 pm
Gain strength, flexibility and grace. Get a fun workout using ballet techniques. For beginners, all levels welcome. Instructor: Marie Newsom , former member of American Ballet Theatre.
Winter Spring Dates: Mondays, April 23- May 7 at 6:30 pm
In this class students will be introduced to basic concepts of comedy improv such as “yes and” (enthusiastically accepting what is offered), “group mind” (listening to each other and working as a team) and “space object work” (miming objects and environments). Using warm up exercises and “structures”, students will be encouraged to trust their instincts, think on their feet and support each other (it is said that a good improviser is one who makes his or her teammates look good). They will also laugh a lot!

Explore the foundations of this dynamic art form of multicultural Southern Spain known for its intricate rhythms, percussive footwork with an emphasis on a strong, grounded and expressive upper body. Instructor: Sara Ayala, Co-founder of Flamenco Vivo, studied in Spain with Flamenco masters.
Tuesday Dance/Fitness Classes

Shake it up with the dance craze that’s sweeping the nation! Learn dance moves that integrate hip hop, modern and street dance all while listening to the best k-idols.

Winter Spring Dates: Tuesdays, January 16- May 8 at 6:40 pm
Connect to the passion, music and dance of Salsa! Ruth Caspary will teach the footwork, mini-patterns and styling you need to be a great Social Salsa Dancer. Review and practice are part of the program as well as lead and follow techniques.
5 week structure: 4 regular classes 5th class is review with practice.
More experienced students will be challenged. No partner required. Non-rubber soled shoes suggested. Instructor: Ruth Caspary.
Winter Spring Dates: Tuesdays, January 16- May 8 at 7:40 pm
A continuation of basics but using key moves such as synchronized turns and hand tosses. Students will learn transitions from basics into these moves and build up mini-patterns. Ruth Caspary will break down the move and teach the transitions that will have you looking like an Intermediate dancer right away.
5 week structure: 4 regular classes 5th class is review with practice.
Students with solid Salsa basics are welcome. No partner required. Non-rubber soled shoes suggested. Instructor: Ruth Caspary, Owner of Latin Connection
Feldenkrais Method ®
Winter Spring Dates: Wednesdays, March 14- May 9 at 5:00 pm
Learn to move more gracefully by paying attention to yourself. Gain mobility and ease at your own pace in this voice-led Feldenkrais Method ® movement class. Come see for yourself! No previous experience necessary.
Marianne Constable is a Guild-certified Feldenkrais Method ® practitioner. She is a professor at Cal, especially interested in how one learns to learn. Wear comfortable clothing. Feel free to bring your own towels or mats for lying on the floor.
Bellydance Level 1: Technique & Combinations
Winter Spring Dates: Wednesday, January 17- May 9 at 7:10 pm
This class is open to dancers of different dance backgrounds and levels. Learn body isolations, shimmies, and basic layering techniques in a fun and supportive environment. Instructor: Natalie Nayun, an international teacher and performer, currently directs Adara Dance Company and performs with Nava Dance Collective and Zenotope.
Bellydance Level 2:Intermediate Fusion Belly Dance Choreography
Winter Spring Dates: Wednesday, January 17- May 9 at 8:15 pm
(With optional performance opportunity)
We will explore movement in Belly Dance Fusion, by combining belly dance technique with other techniques from Central Asia and Modern/Contemporary movement vocabulary and put them into a Choreography. It is recommended that you have more than 1 year of prior belly dance knowledge. Instructor: Natalie Nayun.
Thursday Dance/Fitness Classes
Winter Spring Dates: Thursday, January 18- May 10 at 5:10 pm
Learn fundamental moves and various routines of hip hop dance while grooving to the latest music. This class provides a fun and challenging workout for beginning to advanced beginning levels.
Instructor: Katherine Brown’s style of dance is a balance of an in the studio/ out – the- studio structure; focusing on technique and discipline that you get from dance studio instruction, and the heart, passion soul and discipline you would experience out-of-the-studio.
Argentine Tango: Fundamentals
Winter Spring Dates: Thursday, January 18- May 10 at 6:30 pm
This beginner-friendly class will focus on fundamental techniques to prepare you for the social dance floor. Experienced tango dancers are welcome to attend to improve their dance. Instructor: Jonas Aquino studied Argentine Tango in Buenos Aires, and have taught throughout the Bay Area.
