About Youth Development and Eliminating Racism Programs:
The YWCA is committed to eliminating racism and developing leadership
in our community. The Eliminating Racism Program aims to create
peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all people by promoting
racial understanding and tolerance, providing opportunities
for growth, leadership and power, and advocating for policies
and programs that are socially and racially just. For

Pre-Kindergarten Enrichment Program (PEP) (top)
Volunteers Needed all year long including Summer!
Volunteer with 2-5 year-old kids!
1-2 units ED 97/197 per semester. Approved field study units for Education Minor.
Help 2-5 year old preschoolers get a happy, healthy and fun head start to their education. Great hands on experience in the classroom, enriching the lives of over 130 disadvantaged preschoolers! Volunteer any day of the week, very flexible schedule!

TechGyrls Club (top)
Mentors Needed all Year Long including Summer!
1-2 units ED 97/197 available.
Mentor under-served 4th and 5th grade girls in Oakland in this exciting girls only afterschool program. Help build their self-esteem though innovative projects using technology, computers, math, science, and even shopping. Only two hours a week, free transportation, no experience necessary, and all majors welcome.

Eliminating Racism Advisory Board Internship (ERABI) (top)
Interns Needed all year long including summer!
ED 97/197 units available and Ethnic Studies Field Work units.
Raise community awareness about racial justice issues
through the Advisory Board Internship!
Create your own original workshops & events to help raise awareness about how to eliminate racism in your community. This democratic internship provides excellent leadership development and networking skills while collaborating with other community organizations. No experience necessary!
Confronting Racism Seminar (top)
ED 97/197 units available and Ethnic Studies Field Work units.
Meetings will be on Wednesdays, time TBA.
