YWCA Berkeley/Oakland Week Without Violence Events
Wednesday, October 20th, 2021 & Friday, October 22nd, 2021
Join our YWCA in uplifting Week Without Violence, an annual event hosted by our local association and our national YWCA USA, around how to end and address systemic forms of violence with focus on sexual violence, domestic violence, and gender-based violence. This year’s theme is Beyond Resilience: From Surviving to Thriving!
We are excited to host two speakers for our annual Week Without Violence, and we encourage you to RSVP and join us in learning more about how we can collectively learn, address, and heal from the harms and violence we witness and are impacted by in our daily lives. WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 20TH 12:30-2PM PST
Soyini Taylor Walton received her M.B.A from Saint Mary’s College in Moraga, California and a Bachelor of Science degree with an emphasis in Finance from California State University East Bay. She is an Empowerment Speaker, Author and Inspirational Coach. Soyini also serves as Chief Content Contributor for Cynergy Wellness Magazine. She is also preparing for the January 2022 release of her course that teaches Domestic Violence Survivors to pick up the pieces and become Unstoppable in life. She currently resides in San Jose with her husband Brian Walton Sr. and their awesome son Brian II. Come join us virtually to learn more about her work and activism in addressing domestic violence!

Laura LeMoon is a sex worker, sex trafficking survivor, writer, and author. Her articles, interviews and social justice work have been featured in the Huffington Post, Rolling Stone, Buzzfeed News, NBC, The Daily Beast and more. She has served as consultant related to issues of sex work, sex trafficking and HIV for the CDC, USDOJ and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. She lives in Seattle with her rescue pup, Coco Bean. Come join us virtually to learn more about her incredible activism and work!

YWCA Berkeley/Oakland is excited to share our Hybrid Fall 2021 Programs as we plan to officially re-open our building on August 25th, 2021. Please join us on Tuesday, August 31st, 2021 from 11:30-2PM PST at our YWCA Berkeley/Oakland building to learn more about our available programming and how to apply! (Please remember to wear your mask indoors!)
We welcome new students and community members to visit our building, and there will be free giveaways!
Race Against Racism 2021 Fundraiser – Moved to Spring 2021!

In conjunction with our Annual 2021 Week Without Violence Campaign, join us for our hybrid in-person and virtual Race Against Racism event! All funds raised through this event will support the YWCA Berkeley/Oakland’s racial justice, women’s empowerment & youth programs.
Each registration option includes a Race Against Racism t-shirt. Masks and other YWCA swag are available for additional purchase.
You can participate in Race Against Racism however you choose – walk, run, bike, treadmill, jog around the park, etc. with your family, friends, co-workers, pets or a socially distant group! Post your photos using #ywcaberkeleyoakland and #ywcaraceagainstracism and support the YWCA’s mission of eliminating racism.
