Workforce Development

Our workforce development programs starts with teens and continues through early adulthood and elders. We provide the critical support and resources our community needs to gain a job or move up in their career or current employment.

Annual Shadow Day

Founded in 1994, Shadow Day has been a pillar of YWCA Berkeley/Oakland’s community services for over 30 years. It is an annual in-person event that occurs in the Spring and brings together community organizations, UC Berkeley departments, clubs, and students, as well as YWCA Staff and Program Members.

Career Coaching

Whether starting a new career or looking to advance in a current one, career coaching helps participants identify the role that’s most fulfilling for them — and provides the resources and guidance to pursue it.

Weekly workshops and personalized 1:1 counseling are available to all. To book a session with Claire Marchiano, our NBCC-certified Career Counselor, please email her directly. You can also learn more about Claire at this site

English in Action

EIA has proudly served UC Berkeley international scholars/students and their family members for over 50 years. Starting this semester, we are restructuring our services and will be primarily focused on supporting asylum seekers, recent immigrants, and university service workers whose first language is not English.

Each 1:1 session is focused on improving competency and fluency in the English language, with an exchange of culture built into the casual conversations.
