YW Young Leaders Fellowship
The YW YL Fellowship is a cohort-based, project-driven leadership and workforce development program designed to equip participants with practical career skills, leadership experience, and pathways into meaningful employment while supporting the organization’s community programs.
This fellowship requires 8-10 hours per week.
Fellowship Objectives

Address critical issues like gender equity, racial justice, reproductive justice, and women’s health.

Help marginalized communities share their stories and ensure their voices are heard where it matters most.

Build transferable, real-world skills through hands-on experience.

Create clear pipelines to employment, leadership roles, and continued community engagement.
Participants split their time across three core development areas, ensuring well-rounded growth:

(Hands-On Experience) ~ 5-8 Hours/Week
Work directly with Staff to support and lead YWCA initiatives. Gain practical experience in:
Project planning and execution
Community outreach and engagement
Event setup and on-site support
Data collection and administrative coordination
Cross-team collaboration

(Career Readiness) 1-2 Hours/Week
Participate in structured opportunities that build essential workplace skills and expand professional networks:
Attend a Career Coaching workshop (resume building, cover letters, interviewing, and soft skills)
Participate in a Brown Bag Lunch with local professionals across diverse industries
Attend a Coffee Chat with YWCA staff for mentorship and guidance
Attend a Field Trip to a local community center
Leverage mentorship guidance to build a structured action plan, track milestones, and achieve a targeted skill-based goal by the end of each season
Additional opportunities may be arranged with the Fellowship Coordinator

(Leadership in Action) ~ 4 Hours/Month
Serve as a YWCA ambassador by representing the organization in the community:
Participate in tabling events and outreach efforts
Engage community members and share YWCA resources
Support communication efforts, including email outreach and follow-up
By enrolling in this fellowship, participants actively rotate through all three areas, gaining a comprehensive experience that strengthens leadership skills, builds workforce readiness, and deepens community impact.
Additional Benefits
Participants who complete the fellowship will also receive a $XXX stipend per season (December and May).
