UMOJA HEALTH
Umoja Health Partners are Community Coalitions initially formed to address the COVID-19 and health-related needs of underserved communities of color in the Bay Area. After taking on COVID-19 testing and vaccination under a new model of community-led care delivery, we are expanding our scope to address the burden of cancer, other chronic diseases, and unmet social needs that have left communities of color especially vulnerable during the pandemic.
In line with this expanded focus on vital social resources, Umoja Health generously provided the funding required to power our Persimmon Food Pantry. This critical investment allowed us to establish consistent, monthly food drives specifically designed to support students and local families. Stretching from the summer months through the holiday season, this partnership successfully distributed over 12,000 pounds of food, directly providing nutritious groceries and essential relief to over 500 vulnerable households in our community.

In this immersive simulation, teens receive a fictional profile complete with an occupation, credit score, and recurring bills, forcing them to balance their wants versus their needs at various tabletop stations to learn the true cost of living.
