What does it take to help someone get abortion care in a state with a near-total ban?
Join YWCA Berkeley/Oakland for an evening with Frontera Fund, a Texas nonprofit and abortion fund providing financial support and a sense of community for those seeking reproductive healthcare in the Rio Grande Valley and Texas border community -- under one of the most restrictive legal landscapes in the country.
In partnership with Access Reproductive Justice (RJ), California's only statewide abortion fund, we'll host a roundtable exploring two very different realities: What access looks like under a ban, how far government surveillance and enforcement can reach, and why California's legal protections still don't guarantee access for everyone. What do reproductive justice struggles in other states mean for California? Could it happen here? And how can we take action?
Defending Reproductive Freedom is an invitation to stand together, learn from the experts doing this work, and build the relationships and collective power the road ahead demands.
Whether you're a longtime advocate, emerging leader, community partner, donor, or simply someone who believes every person deserves the freedom to make decisions about their own body and future, you have a place in this conversation.
No-one is turned away for lack of funds. Please email jgalvez@ywca-berkeley.org if the general admission price is inaccessible. We will provide a discount code for a ticket at no charge.
