Emancipate Yourself from Mental Slavery: Mindfulness/Meditation for Women’s Liberation (ONLINE)

This class includes dialogues about the benefits of a regular meditation practice specifically geared towards women, girls, those who identify as such as well as non-binary people. We will learn about Goddess terminology and iconography as well as about the feminist trilogy of the virgin, mother, and crone and stories about each stage in their development.

Each class will include breathing awareness/exercises as well as the nuts and bolts of a meditation session (posture, timing, comfort level, breathing) followed by a guided meditation and ending with a certain amount of silence (as time permits). There will also be time for questions at the end of class. There is a focus on using group practice to move from theoretical perspectives about "meditation" to an actual daily practice that serves to strengthen our ability to cope with our day to day stressors and uncomfortable realities.

The class is intended to introduce women and girls to the concepts of mindfulness and meditation through the use of short dialogues and live, guided meditations. Both beginners and experienced meditators are welcome to take this class. Classes will build on each other yet drop-ins are always welcome. Goddess terminology is referenced during the class.
